The theme addressed by Athena Sadoun in her works question 'Mental & Identity disorders', allowing her to express the different facets of the personality of people facing the challenges of mental illness. She wishes to question how people suffering from mental illness conceal the traumatic events of their lives and how they can be imprisoned in their own “mental” world.
Eager to explore and express her emotions through her works, she seeks to communicate messages through her art and wants to educate her audience about the 'me' that is at the heart of her art. Starting from these questions as an artist about the treatment of others linked to racial discrimination and prejudice, she became interested in commenting and interpreting the way in which "different" people are perceived by society and others, as well as the coping mechanisms they develop to deal with their different vision of the world and the perception of others.
One of the characteristics that produces her is her sense of observation that she has put to the benefit of her art by analyzing the behavior and reactions of the people around her, giving her a deep sensitivity. Indeed, the way in which the same situation can be interpreted and managed by different people is fascinating.
