Julia A.Etedi

"I explore the subtle border that constitutes the tipping points between states that seem contrary. Between completeness and lack, emptiness and fullness, order and chaos, shadow and light, so many phenomena where we experience this "on the edge of" sometimes dizzying, other times, almost impalpable. I strive to observe movements and variations in nature as well as its impact on itself to translate its captivating impact on my paintings. I use my tangible experiences to invoke the intangible. There is a poetic intention through the abstract language of my work. I seek to extract what ultimately provides breathing, a gentle harmony thanks to an aesthetic composed of colored expanses, shapes created by the dilution of pigments in water and animated traces with oil pastel. I navigate between urban and natural environments and it is without a doubt in nature that I recharge my batteries and draw inspiration. Through my works, I express what is dear to my heart and my soul: finding the balance between the opposites that inhabit us and probing the depth of the limits that exist between them. Thus, each of my works is an ode to the delicate and striking chords that emerge from this dialectic.."

JULIA A.ETEDI

She shows for major designers including Jean-Paul Gaultier, Junko Shimada, and works in the creative studios of Margiela, YSL, Givenchy and Isabel Marant. Julia also participates, as an extra, in the making of the advertising film Le Dahlia Noir with Ricardo Tisci, directed by Fabien Baron and in the biographical film Saint Laurent by Bertrand Bonello. During her final year of Masters in Los Angeles, she explored the world of theater by sharing the stage with seasoned actors, taking part in several performances of Noël Coward's legendary play, “Private Lives”. These worlds where she navigates in the spotlight paradoxically offer her a deep dive into her inner garden. Through her immersion both on stage and behind the scenes, Julia delved into the heart of creators' sources of inspiration, explored the actors' meticulous preparatory work, and captured the creative subtleties that shape the birth of artistic works.
